PostSubject: A "little" problem...   Sun 22 Jul 2012, 9:36 am

I don't really know a GOOD way to put this, so...

See, I live in Garland, Texas...and uh, I've got a bit of an issue. As a child I had many fears, I have a phobia of the dark, I've never been stung or bitten by more than an ant, and I absolutely hate heights...

Well, the problem pertains more so to the first two, forget the last. Right, so, I'm playing my Xbox at 12:00 in the morning, today. Everything is fine, perfectly fine. 1:00, I look beside me at what looks like a piece of dead grass, so I reach out for it...but my instincts hold me back, and instead I move the case that this object is occupying the shadow of...it turns out that it is a Scorpion. Now this is where I panic, and try to slam it into the carpet with the case it was laying next to, which it runs off next to some wood furniture where I slam it in to such with a battery charger, which was met with a frantic spaz of limbs from the arachnid invader. I reply by slamming it several more times before aiming at the tail to hear a final satisfying crunch. But I was petrified because scorpions are one of my fears, and I'd never seen one that close that wasn't dead inside a thick plastic case. I got 3 hours of sleep...

And we're talking small scorpion too, so it's likely to be poisonous. I don't know the neccessary precautions so could anyone tell me? Scorpions are foreign to my neighborhood, and so all I know is they like to hide in shoes, the smaller they are the deadlier, and if I see it; kill it.

Please help me, I need all the sleep I can get...

Have you told your parents about this? They might know what to do in case of pests.

Well I've only killed one.

Yes, Mata, my dad was wondering why I was up so I told him.

They don't know what to do, but my dad is gonna use industrial pesticides on the inside and outside of the house and I assume we'll go stay at a local hotel.

Just...if they come back...I can't handle scorpions outside of movies, pictures, or fiction.

Hopefully that will take care of the problem. D:

That sounds horrifying for you. Just a question though, how big were its pincers/claws? The larger the claws the less poisonous it is, to the point that the really big-clawed ones are practically "harmless". So if it had big claws then you don't need to worry as much about having to go to the hospital.

Spray the outside of your house?

Unfortunately, I can't make any recommendations as scorpions are a non-issue in Michigan. I highly doubt Boric/Orthoboric Acid will help you.

Sounds like you've got it. Also, I grew up in Garland, coincidentally.

They're like little Scorpibros who will stop at nothing to kill roaches. Please let them live.

Check and make sure you weren't wounded, if it's still relatively recent. A poisonous bite has obvious implications, but a regular one could cause infection. Wash it with warm water and soap, and dowse it with whats-it-called as often as you can stand the burn against an open wound.

Hydrogen peroxide.

Funny how people react to it, it doesn't hurt me one bit.

When I was visiting my aunt in Texas, they had a major scorpion problem and they used this white powder stuff ((truthfully, I forget the name, all I remember is that it was in a plastic bucket and it was from the feeding store, but hay, it could be a little scavenger hunt XD )) but it takes care of scorpions, tranchulas, and fire ants. Oh, and it's non toxic for other animals.

Only thing I can think of that would be in a white powder would be Se7en and Orthoboric/Boric Acid. But I don't know if either will deal with Scorps, as I said earlier.

Well, you can always use Anthrax, if you're really desperate.

Oh, shade.
Btdubs, an easy way to detect scorps is a backlight.
