Found this quote on YouTube of all places, thought it'd be interesting as a point of discussion.

Science is not "the" attempt to comprehend reality, but only "an" attempt.

There are other (three) types of knowledge that are recognised as parallel to science, achieving good results where science fails and failing where science rules: popular knowledge (i.e. pure empiricism and repetition), religious knowledge (i.e. revelation) and philosophic knowledge (i.e. rational speculation).

Together with science (i.e. methodology and objectivity), they form the four tools we have to model reality.

I think I'll hold off on my thoughts for the time being, in past they haven't really turned out that well...

Quite thought-provoking. o:

I think I'll go ahead and maintain that everyone has their own, separate ideas of how to go about understanding the universe, and science, religion, philosophy, etc. are just sort of general labels we apply to different techniques that everyone has a bit of a spin on.

Very interesting. Another pairing of four Parallels, Each pair with it correlative opposite. Popular Knowledge/Philosophical Knowledge and Scientific Knowledge/Religious Knowledge.
I can imagine these as a graph, and I can plot people on it.

This can certainly bring up heated discussion, so I bid thee to tread lightly.
