| Hello and welcome! Here is the gist, my friends: we made a forum. It isn't the Sporum, Minecraft forum, Roleplayer Guild, or whatever forum you have participated in, but that does not mean you get to run around posting however, wherever, and whatever you want, oh, heavens no. If we are going to make any sense of this forum and make it work, then you are gonna have to help me do this. Like all forums, there are rules you must follow. We know, ugh, rules - but they're implemented so that everybody can have fun. It's like the United States' legal system and its application of freedom and liberty: "your rights end where another's begins." While we are laid back, we are gonna be pretty cross if anyone breaks any of these rules:
- Flaming other users unprovoked or otherwise; we do not care who started it. We started it in the heat of passion when we made this forum and so we expect you to deal with any situation maturely.
- Constantly attacking or harassing another user is called trolling. Now, we're fine with rivalries and friendly taunting, but if things get out of hand, then we will have to take care of it... efficiently.
- Do not spam our pretty forum please. It would be such a shame to delete your post and give you a warning.
- If you participate in another's roleplay, you are subject to their rules. If any of us are informed that you have been repeatedly breaking someone's rules, you will
be eliminated receive a warning.
- Please respect the moderators and administration. We don't get payed to do anything here. If you feel if one of us has done something wrong, politely send them a private message (PM), or if necessary, another admin or moderator. They'll work it out if you can not.
- Do not post disturbing images which includes pornography or severe mutilation and other gruesome scenes. Some of the users are young and/or do not appreciate that kind of material. This includes placing similar images in your signature or avatar. Thank you for understanding.
- Do not impersonate another user.
- Stay on topic to the topic at hand in the thread you are posting in. Derailing often pisses users off, so don't do that. If you do it too frequently, you will receive a warning.
- If you feel that any members has wronged you in any way, please contact any of the moderators or admins. We will look into to it and deal with the situation accordingly. Do not get into an argument. However, we do encourage that you should attempt to fix the situations and deal with things yourself rather than contacting us in the early hours of the morning when someone just made one negative off-hand comment about a television show that you like.
- Do not believe anybody that claims that they are an admin(istrator) or a mod(erator). All administrators' username is highlighted in blue and all moderators' username are highlighted in green. Furthermore, all official messages such as inviting you to be a moderator shall be sent to you by email-messaging. A moderator may pass along the message if I am unable to send you one. On another hand, we're not nearly big enough for that to be a big deal. Shit, we might just ask you over the chatbox.
The moderators and administration alike will act accordingly to any situation in which our presence is demanded. We are not trigger happy with the ban button and we are more than likely to simply just warn you, but please, do not test our patience. There is a universal set of rules when it comes to roleplaying, each that we will explain. Some do not always apply to one's roleplay, which means we am giving you the freedom to run your roleplays however which way you want. This does not mean that the rest of the users are allowed to agree and if you are one of the people that doesn't agree, do not flame the GM or get into an argument. The owner of the roleplay will change it if they wish, or if they wish to please the majority of the population. How a roleplay is run is entirely up to the whim of the game master (GM). Now on to the universal rules:
- God-modding(GM) is not permitted. God-modding is when you make your character better than they should be, make impossible stunts, or completely over-powered. It is also possible to make a character sheet god-modding, or more accurately, "GM". God-modding is basically most of the rules combined except more generalized.
- Do not meta-game. Meta-gaming is basically giving your character knowledge they shouldn't even know. Say that Sarah accidentally killed someone, but nobody knew. She went to go ask Bob out, but then Bob said, "No! You killed my brother, I'll never forgive you!" Then he proceeds to smack the shit out of her. Unrealistic, right? Also, let's assume that the person she killed wasn't exactly his brother, but her brother instead! By saying that the murdered person was Bob's brother, he made himself a blood relative to Sarah. Inserting yourself into someone's family and/or back story is also meta-gaming.
- Power-playing. Similar to god-modding, and is basically just dodging everything and being stronger than your character really is. It is basically another name for god-modding, so don't do it.
- Insta's. What the hell is an insta? It's basically instant kill. Instantly killing another person's character. Insta-hit. Instantly hitting another person's character. Insta-dodge. Dodging a character's attacks all the time, even when it should not be possible. Any of these will likely get you in trouble with that roleplay's GM. Insta-love is similar, except not taken as seriously. It's basically love at first sight and when exactly does that actually happen? It's unrealistic and it sometimes pisses people off.
- No C'lossing. Once upon a time ago on another forum, there was a roleplayer who was referred to as his shortened username, Colossus. He had great potential, but his failing lied in his attitude. Between wanting to win at everything, being at the spotlight of everything, and sticking to one trope of character. Which brings me to Gary Stu and Mary Sue. They are basically characters that are perfect and have no flaws. People with too many flaws are also Gary Stus/Mary sues because then they are just fishing for attention. Also, no drama queens. That part of this rule pretty much explains itself.
Now, those aren't all the rules you ought to know, but those are the main ones you should learn about because they are the most important. If you are new to roleplaying and still aren't sure about the rules, ask some of the users and they'll explain plenty. We're sure they would be glad to help. Now, last but not least, we just want to introduce ourselves to you: Snowy (leading administrator), Patches (advisory administrator), and Admiral Ji (Moderator Extraordinaire). Not only your administrative and moderation team, but your friends. We hope you have a great time here and that you will stay for a while. Welcome to the forum.
