CoAIII OOC; just moving it here Empty
PostSubject: CoAIII OOC; just moving it here   CoAIII OOC; just moving it here I_icon_minitimeFri 04 May 2012, 8:39 am

((My last tie to the sporum, and I'm moving it, ready for my last goodbye and fuck you))

How could this happen? I can't believe it. Gone, just like that, I don’t understand...

Sigh.

I suppose I should start at the beginning. Almost six years ago, dragons made their comeback as a species with the help of a wizard. This wizard wanted to use them as an army to conquer the world and establish a new magician’s empire. He used Aurnia, the third queen dragon, to kidnap humans and re-birth them as dragons. Unfortunately for the wizard, he bit off more than he could chew. His irate apprentice set his favorite pets loose in the countryside, where they learned the truth about what the wizard was planning to do. These dragons returned to the facility, freed Aurnia, and disposed of the wizard. Hundreds of dragons were released into the surrounding area in the ensuing chaos.
Then came the second tribulations. For over a year, slayers tried to hunt us back to extinction, either only vaguely aware or purposefully ignorant they were shooting at their own kind.
Then it all changed - a team of dragons led a strike against the St. George Legion, the largest dragonslaying organization. There, they found the wizard's apprentice, Steven. Through a twisted combination of magic and science, he had managed to change himself into a demi-dragon and somehow retain the use of his previous magic skills. They fought above the city, battling in the air and through the streets of Dallas. The dragons succeeded; Steven's body lay broken and dead on the pavement below. Thanks to the computer skills of a sympathetic young human, Steven’s records were released to the internet, and the public at large was shown what the Legion was really up to. They had infiltrated or outright bought much of the North American Union government and were poised for an outright takeover. In the wake of "Dragongate," as the incident came to be known, the bottom fell out of the NAU; it simply ceased to be, all faith in it gone. Without its overbearing presence, the humans’ lifestyles greatly improved, and the dragons began gaining acceptance.

Things have been looking up lately; our population has risen to about 4,000 scattered throughout throughout the world. We are even on mostly level legal footing with humans. Many of us live and work among them. A few of us own businesses. Slayers remain only to help stave off an ever-diminishing threat from the occasional rambunctious feral dragon. Those of us that don't want to participate in human society don't. In short, our triumphant return as a species has been coming along as well as anyone could have hoped.

That's why it hit us so hard when the unthinkable happened.

The year is 2038 (about 25 years after the first RP). The locale is Jessica, Texas, a city which forms a triangle with Dallas and Fort Worth. Humans and dragons coexist in peace. You are either a human or a dragon, your choice. You have a normal job, and you are a fairly normal person. Rampaging the countryside or going out wantonly dragonslaying will get you killed - or worse. Don’t worry, there will indeed be action, but stirring up trouble is seriously a stupid idea. Humans and dragons spent their two years back together fighting and the next many years cleaning up rogues on both sides. They’re pretty good at it by now.

Dragons and Society

Gaining acceptance in society has generally been an uphill battle. At first, the uninformed masses of people were either unaware of who the dragons were or willfully ignorant after being told. The sympathetic humans (PETA among them, like it or not) tended to oppose the wholesale slaughter of dragons on the grounds that they seemed to be a pretty intelligent bunch with a very small population - effectively equating dragons with apes or polar bears, but not getting the whole picture. They were the minority who, while they resisted the constant fear-mongering and animosity, still didn’t get the whole picture.

That largely changed after Steven died. With the fear machine gutted and lying in pieces, dragons finally got a word in edgewise. Since then, they’ve been slowly working their way up socially. As of now, dragons have most of the rights afforded to humans. They live and work among the humans; some even own their own businesses. (One such venture, the Dragonheart Cafe on McCaffrey Street, is particularly popular and is about to open up a Fort Worth location.) Many dragons live in human housing, but the older ones aren’t often seen in your standard apartment. They’re not built for creatures that continue to grow throughout their entire lifespan!

Once a dragon outgrows human housing, it’s got two options. Richer dragons (aka at least upper middle class) can have larger houses built for them, but this is fairly rare. The more common option is to go get a cave somewhere. Following the NAU’s demise, national parks went to the states and provinces, which devoted the great majority of them to housing dragons. Unfortunately, Texas is not known for having a lot of elevation changes or mountains, so picturesque cave entrances in mountainsides just don’t happen around here. However, once you get inside the hole in the ground/hill, what you find depends entirely on the dragon’s means, and no two caves are exactly the same. If the dragon has some cash or good credit, it can buy some land and set up shop there.

As for dragons in other regions, just look for wide open spaces and unclaimed territory. Places with natural resources or climates humans would find harsh are distinctly popular.

Dragonslayers and the DoD (because we all know you want to play one)

The term “dragonslayer” is a bit of a sensitive word, really. Best not to use it around most dragons, because they either know someone who’s had a run-in with one or lost a friend or clutchmate to one. Slayers, or “peacekeepers,” as they’re more commonly called, now perform the necessary function of keeping unruly non-sentient draconids in check. Such creatures are usually benign, not going beyond poaching cattle or tipping over trash cans, but sometimes one gets dangerous. This is where peacekeepers come in. Once the creature’s non-sentient status has been confirmed with the local Department of Dragons, warrants are issued and the peacekeepers are dispatched. In most cases, the creature is to be driven away or captured, but kept alive, but the truly dangerous ones are (ahem) euthanized. Cases of sentient dragons misbehaving are almost always dealt with by the dragon’s side of the DoD. The rare cases that aren’t usually receive media attention, significant legal squabble, and the mass firing of weaker department members who become scapegoats.

Dragonslayers usually operate individually or in small teams; large organizations of them tend to have their facilities mysteriously burn down (the DoD is silent on such issues). Swords make rare appearances; non-lethal police weapons and guns are more common.

As for the DoD itself, there’s one in pretty much every state. Their ruling body consists of a council of eleven members, five of which are to be human and five of which are to be dragons. The eleventh member is anyone’s guess. Human members are appointed by state governors, while the dragons are appointed by Aurnia.

DoD’s usually function as subcommittees for state legislatures, introducing new bills regarding human-dragon relations and such. They are almost a set of mini-governments, although they tend to over-inflate the amount of authority they have. Doesn’t mean they’re toothless, though (haha, punny!). They have pictures of every known sentient dragon (to make sure they don’t sic the slayers on the wrong wyrm), and that’s their main intrusion into dragon’s lives. Their other purpose is to educate. Their branch offices and kiosks are always well-stocked with flyers about whatever subject one might want to know about. (GM’s note: If you pick one up, I’ll tell you what it says) The larger ones teach air safety courses that are mandatory for all flighted species.

On the Draconis Veneficium, or, Dragons, Mages, and You
(don’t pay much attention if you don’t want to play a human)

At the base of every dragon’s brain, there resides a specific organ that is responsible for most of the dragon’s interaction with magic. It serves as the power source for all magical powers and breath weapons. It is connected to all organs that use magic and is partially responsible for their control. The dragon would die without this organ, as it is essentially an extension of the brain. Veneficia from certain types of dragon are ingredients in many forbidden spells.

Humans and most other magic-using species of average proficiency lack such an arrangement; their magic use is spread throughout the brain. Every human has at least a little magical ability. This is the ability to focus themselves and subtly affect the fate of others through prayer. Different cultural groups have different average tendencies for significant magic use. It’s very much a use-it-or-lose-it thing, so cultures that embraced atheism first have the lowest average ability. Ability to use cantrips is uncommon; only about a quarter of people are can use them. Minor spells are accessible to about an eighth of the population, and higher levels of power get less common from there. Magic ability in humans used to be somewhat more pronounced, but not so much now that technology has supplanted the role of magic.

Ever since Blaine’s writings on magical methods made it onto Wikileaks, practical magic use is starting again. The average mage knows maybe one or two spells that they can do well, but the exceptionally good ones can do more.

Obviously, human and dragon magicks are much different. Human magic is more general and is a learned skill, and often requires somatic components. Dragon magic is specialized, requires nothing other than raw materials and the dragon itself, and it is an innate ability. Humans frequently use specialized staves or wands as spell focuses.

Uncommon Common Knowledge (IC knowledge that didn’t fit anywhere else)

America and Canada exist as their component provinces, territories, and states. Travel between them is pretty easy; there’s not a lot by way of security, at least not on the borders with other countries.

With the US dollar gone the way of the continental, silver is the currency of the day. $10 today is an ounce of silver. Amounts smaller than ⅕ oz. use copper coins of equivalent value. For instance, a $1 candy bar today goes for 3CAD in game time. In silver, that’s 1/10 oz. For those who aren't inclined to carry coins around, there's always bank notes.

If you weren’t in the last two, then converting goes like this: you volunteer and get selected by a committee of dragons. If you’re chosen at this level, you’re not done yet. You get a couple months of psychological counseling to make sure that your mind can handle a sudden and radical identity shift. If you make it through that, you’re spirited away to Aurnia’s cave under a veil of secrecy. Once there, she says hi, you chat a bit, and she swallows you whole. You wake up in an egg a few weeks later, ready to hatch as your new self.

If you got converted, and you’re in your teens, guess what? You’re hitting puberty again as a dragon! Sorry, but that’s how it works when you get a new body.

Dragons are open about most subjects, as an effort to keep good relations. The one exception is the Draconic language, which is forbidden to teach to non-dragons. Also, it’s rude to ask someone about the location of a dragon’s home or the size of his hoard unless invited to.

There is only one known dragon who was born before 2012. That's Aurnia.

Character Creation

Species

Common Westerns: Common Westerns are what most Western people think of when they imagine a dragon. They are characterized by having four legs, two wings, and feline or reptilian builds with long necks and tails. They are decent at most things, but they excel at nothing. They use some magic to supplement their wings, because otherwise, their wings would be too small and their musculature too weak. They are particularly good at fire. (limit five)

Drakes: Drakes are shaped like Common Western dragons, aside from their lack of wings. Drakes have above average armor and high land speed (because they don’t have wings to encumber them). (limit four)

Wyverns: Wyverns have a two legs and a pair of wings. They are very stable, fast fliers, as they don’t rely on magic to fly and lack a second set of legs that get in the way of their wing muscles. Only Luong dragons are faster, but that speed comes with a drawback. Wyverns compensate by typically having very focused, rapidfire attacks and low manual dexterity. Wyverns do well with the air aspect. (limit four)

Serpents: Serpents have no limbs whatsoever. They move quickly (not quite as fast as a drake), and they have exceptional armor with average weapon strength. Due to the nature of the scutes that they use to get around, they are particularly good at climbing things via a little magic. Serpents are good with the earth aspect. (limit three)

Quetzalcoatls: Quetzalcoatls are the inspiration for the Mayan serpent god. They look like a cross between a snake and some kind of colorful bird. They have armor almost like a serpent and a slow flight speed, with slow, powerful attacks. If wyverns were Spitfires, quetzalcoatls would be torpedo bombers. (limit two)

Luong: Luong are the dragons of the East. They always have long serpentine bodies and four limbs, and they never have wings. They can fly, but they rely entirely on magic to do so. They can hover with no additional effort, but their flight is erratic and unstable. One solid hit, and they’re out of the air - but getting that hit could be tricky. They are naturally good with the storm element. (limit three)

Hydras: Hydras are characterized by having a number of extra heads and no wings. When a hydra’s head is cut off, it can grow back two heads on the one stump. This is possible until it reaches twice its normal number of heads. At that point, it goes unconscious due to lack of blood flow to each brain. Extra heads recede four days after they grow. If the hydra passes out from too many heads, it will take six days to fully recover. (limit two)

Hexadragons: Hexadragons are common western dragons with a theme of “six.” While their exact number of body parts varies, they can have up to three fingers on a claw, up to six arms/legs, two wings, up to three tails, one or two heads, and six to twelve eyes.
They are a product of inbreeding or chimerism (aka double-yolk eggs) and are a new species, unique to the Third Revival. (limit two)

Hybrids (paternal): Human-dragon hybrids fathered by a dragon. In order to not kill the human mother, these are born lacking most of their dragon parts, save for some body structures. Muzzles, tails, and possibly digitigrade legs or small wings in rare cases are possible at birth. Horns, claws, spikes, and scales do not begin to show up until the age of seven. Any dragon body parts that will form will also begin growing in then. It is possible to be completely unaware of partial dragon lineage until this time. Paternal mixes tend to be “rougher” mixes that are less aesthetically pleasing and often clearly delineated which body part came from which species. Paternal hybrids can be anywhere from 25-50% dragon. These either use basic breath weapons, or have some human magic tendencies (two or three solid spells is average). (limit two (FULL))

Hybrids (maternal): Hybrids who were mothered by a dragon. These are are hatched with the mix of dragon/other that they will have for the rest of their lives. These tend to be a more homogenous mix of human and dragon than paternal hybrids and are anywhere from 50%-75% dragon. Can have either a breath weapon and one basic elemental summoning power or no breath weapon and two summoning powers.
Breath weapons are stronger than what a paternal mix would have. Summoning powers are limited in scope and are less powerful than a full dragon’s. (A storm dragon mix could summon a fog, or a water mix could cause a pre-existing water pool to flow onto an electrical device, etc. Ask if you have questions.) They tend to have abilities for crafting magical items or potions that are related to their mother’s element. (limit three)

Mutants: Extreme inbreeding tends to produce some extreme variants and emergent traits. This originally happened at the First and Second extinctions, when the original Western dragons branched out to form drakes and wyverns, then when elements became unbound from their particular species (though those elements still form a dragon’s natural aptitudes). Mutant dragons have some sort of non-elemental Aspect, like psychic abilities or limited telekinesis, at the expense of some sort of physical disability. Mutants are less of an individual species and more of a modifier applied to another species. They are extremely rare and often aren’t seen outside of their homes. (Limit two, by permission only)

Also, regarding age: dragons remain below human size until they hit roughly forty, unless they were one of the original converts. Those dragons were being fed spiked food, which unnaturally increased their growth rate. They would be roughly the size of horses by now, barring some deviation in the course of their growth.

Aspects
“Element” is such an imprecise word, isn’t it? Let’s face it, “storm” and “plant” aren’t elements because they’re not fundamental building blocks of nature. One of them is a phenomenon, and the other is a biological category. This doesn’t put them out of a dragon’s reach, however. We just need different terminology.

The aspects of the Third Revival are as follows: the four classical elements (water FULL), wood, storm (FULL), poison (FULL), and ice.

There have been only three light dragons in the history of the world: the three Queens. Aurnia herself has told us that queens are the only creatures with sufficient potential to control that element.

Rules
1.The first rule of this RP is the first rule of this RP.
2. As the GM, I am god. What I say goes and is not available for appeal. This is not a democracy.
3. I will cause discipline to occur for what reasons I deem necessary. Usually I’ll explain why.
4. Speaking of discipline, He-who-shall-not-be-named’s characters never existed.
5. Don’t pester people to post.
6. No godmodding, powerplaying, spotlighting, autoing, metagaming, or stupidity. I explain all of these in my guide. If you haven’t read it, do so. I expect you to know what it says.
7. Swearing is fine in moderation. Please use an asterisk or insert some empty BBCode so the censor doesn't go off.
8. This is a literate RP. No one-liners. You must use proper grammar and spelling. If English is not your first language, then just do your best.
9. Please remove the parenthetical text from your character sheet.
10. Romance is fine, just don’t get graphic.
11. I’m fine with comboing magical abilities; just say which abilities you’re using so I know you’re not pulling things out of your arse.
12. Maintain at least some realism. Guns kill things, and there is no such thing as dodging them. Especially not if you’re a large dragon.
13. You may curse within reason, but don’t set off the censor. I trust that you know how to do that. Don’t go off like a sailor. If you annoy me with excessive cussing, I will revoke your swearing privileges.
14. Plot-significant NPC’s are mine to control. Minor NPC’s can be controlled by you, so long as you don’t make them too… convenient. As a rule of thumb, I give you a wave of mooks to fight, then you can handle them as groups. If I give you only a few, then I expect a decently detailed fight.
15. Side-plots are cool; game-changing plot twists are not.
16. The more detailed your attack is, the more likely it is to hit.
17. Have fun and play fair.
18. If your character is a converted human, he/she has to be at least three years old as a dragon.
19. I put things in the OP because I want you to know them. Read the OP.
20. Read all the rules. If you have, put a link to my guide in your sheet.

PostSubject: Re: CoAIII OOC; just moving it here   CoAIII OOC; just moving it here I_icon_minitimeFri 04 May 2012, 8:39 am

Cast of Characters

Username: Jalines
Character name: Evakylir (ee-VACK-ill-leer), or "lonely one;" goes by Ev
Gender: Male
Age: 21 as a human, now 8 as a dragon
Species: Luong
Aspect: Poison
Appearance: Ev generally has the average shape of a Luong dragon, with a long, snaky body that is just over 4 ft long -- about one third of which is tail -- and 2 ft tall. His body is mostly covered in large scales of a bright yellow-green color, though his underside is more of a pale green. His scales are moderately protective, but he has no additional armoring structures on his body. His legs are just longer than average and rather slender, but they have a toned musculature from his tendency to run or jump rather than completely fly for transportation. His head, a little lighter in color than his body, is a rather boxy shape with long yellow "whiskers" (those tendril-ish things Luong have, whatever those are called) at the side of his mouth even at his young age. However, also despite his age, the two horns on the top of his head are rather short. His ears are proportionally long and narrow, and they go straight back to form a mostly even line with the top of his head. His nostrils are prominent like in most Luong. His eyes are mostly a slightly dull green, with a few lines of yellow radiating out from his slit-like pupils. His teeth are short and only mildly sharp, and are usually green from a coating of poison that naturally forms over them (more below). His claws, which are uncolored since they don't have the poison his teeth have, are a bit short and about the same sharpness as his teeth. He has a short "mane" around the back of his head that is colored in a gradient from green to yellow as it goes outward. He also has a short ridge of the same material and color as the mane along his back and some of his tail. His tail ends in a bit of this material like in many Luong, though there isn't much at his age.
Abilities:
-Poison Breath: Ev can breathe out a green-colored poisonous gas that will quickly weaken most things but not kill without prolonged exposure. Unfortunately, he constantly exhales a small amount of poison, which requires constant effort to stop. He can also focus his power for a much more densely poisonous breath, though he has hardly ever needed to do so. He can use this power in a versatile manner, either breathing streams of poison or, with great effort, a sort of poisonous blast. The poison gas will fade after a long while, and it slowly floats upward. It doesn't seem to affect plants, though it possibly might with long enough exposure. Ev's state of mind seems to affect how much poison he produces, with more poison the more intensely he's feeling something.
-Poison Resistance: Ev is very resistant to being affected by many kinds of toxic substances, though perhaps less so against special toxins created by magic. He is also only minorly resistant to acidic or corrosive substances as opposed to toxic ones. Still, he is pretty much unable to be killed outright by any poison alone, although the most potent can weaken him.
-Poison Absorption: Ev is able to inhale toxic gases to clear them from the air, and he slowly degrades any poison that he ingests or that enters his bloodstream. In large amounts, he can gain energy from these poisons. However, while he quickly mastered taking back in the poison he creates himself, absorbing other poisons may be more difficult. These more difficult substances will take longer to degrade, and they may weaken him slightly in the meantime if they are particularly powerful. This ability is generally easier or harder based on his resistance to the substance.
-Venomous Bite: Ev automatically produces a layer of liquid poison that surrounds his teeth, weakening and harming any living thing he bites. When used, the poison is removed from his teeth and must be regenerated. This happens slowly without any special effort, but he can focus on it to restore the poison more quickly.
-Poison Sense: Ev can detect poisonous substances by sight, smell, and taste. When he sees something poisonous, it appears to give off a green glow that becomes more intense the more poisonous the substance is. The glow will only appear when he can actually see the substance, though even small amounts of light will work. In addition, poisonous substances Ev smells or swallows will be generally sharp and tangy, though every substance has a slightly different odor and taste. His own poison has a glow and scent like any other, though he's gotten used to his own poison enough to ignore its smell and taste.
Occupation: None
Personality/Bio: Terry Greer, as Ev was known in his human life, was always something of a loner; he was very shy and severely lacked ambition. He hardly ever did work beyond what was required of him by school, even though he was (and still is) intelligent and logical. His general lack of attention toward anything else caused him to miss even obvious signs of a deadly illness taking hold of his mother until it was too late. It may have even been his neglect itself that caused her to worsen so quickly. When she died from the illness, Terry's father blamed him for neglecting her and refused to communicate with him again. Suddenly without his family, Terry at last realized his tragic faults of inactivity and self-concern, breaking down into depression for several months. However, he then saw conversion into a dragon as an opportunity to start his life over and correct his past mistakes. After being accepted for the program, he hatched as a dragon with a personal promise to right his wrongs by applying himself and considering others. That's why it was so devastating to discover that he would always exhale poisonous gas unless he applies constant focus into stopping it, forcing him to constantly stay away from others to spare them from his poison. He chose to symbolize both his new life and his plight in a new name: Evakylir, or "lonely one." For several years after his hatching, he was once again distraught and depressed about his terrible misfortune, but he has since accepted his existence and vowed to make the best of it by trying each day to become better at suppressing his power, though he has had very slow progress. He also hangs on to the hope that there is some way -- though he cannot imagine what -- to keep the poison under control for a longer time at once or even permanently. He now lives in a very small, secluded cave under a formation of boulders about 3 miles west of Jessica's outskirts, chosen because it is removed from civilization so that he cannot endanger anyone. To forget his human life, he only goes by his dragon name and tells no one his former one. He retains his intelligence and logical thinking, though his young dragon age makes logic difficult sometimes. To take his mind off of his solitude, he collects anything interesting he finds, like peculiar rocks, stray bottle caps, and the like. He has more respect for humans than some dragons might because he was once human himself, while he of course respects dragons as well now that he is one. He tries to be considerate and kind toward others, but having never been too social in his human life and now having been in seclusion so long, he wouldn't have a good idea of what to say should he ever be in a conversation. In addition, his first reaction when he encounters anyone else is to warn them to stay away so he doesn't harm them. He would like to meet a poison dragon in the hopes that they might be immune to his poisonous breath, but since he mostly keeps to himself, he has not yet had the good fortune even with the rising dragon population. He technically has the ability of magic-powered flight like any Luong, but his attempts to fly so far have been chaotic and uncontrolled, so he's actually kind of scared to try it for fear that he'll crash into something. He gets around by running or, more often, using his flight in short bursts to make massive leaps. He can also sustain great falls with his flight power.
Theme song: None

Username: Michangs
Character name: Temezren (Tem for short. It's similar to the translation of "fast flow." He was named so because he is very eager and energetic when pursuing something he wants and sometimes not as calm as one might expect of a water dragon. It is also because he is quite intelligent, so knowledge flows into his brain quickly.)
Gender: Male
Age: 13
Species: Common Western
Aspect: Water
Appearance: His general shape isn't much different from your standard Western dragon. He is 3 feet tall (on all fours), 6 1/2 feet long (tip of the snout to the tip of the tail), and 2 1/2 feet wide (without his wings spread). His wingspan is the same as his length at its widest. Overall, his body is more lean and agile than muscular, both from his age and the fact that he's just naturally that way. Most of his body is covered in rich medium blue scales. His underside, by contrast, is gray-blue. His teeth are sharp but not particularly long, and they are all completely hidden when he closes the long muzzle that is his mouth. His eyes have pleasant light-ish blue irises around mildly slitted pupils. In place of horns, two large fins come from either side of the back of his head, which can pick up sound and essentially serve as his ears. From the top of his head all the way down to the tip of his tail, his back is lined with a much shorter, finlike ridge. His neck is slightly shorter than that of the average Western dragon, but still fits his proportions well. His wings aren't remarkably different in shape from the usual Western ones. The solid, bony parts of his wings are the same rich color as his topside, and the thin, sail-like membranes are lighter blue, similar to his eyes. While the feet on his forelegs are distinctly draconian, with long, sharp, deep blue talons at the tip of each of his thick claws, one of the four individual claws on each foot is rather like a thumb, allowing him to grasp objects with some success. The feet of his back legs are slightly heavier, with thicker claws and larger talons, and cannot be used like hands. His tail makes up about 3 feet of his body length.
Abilities: -Water Control: Can move water with his mind - change currents, throw waves, keep a coat of water on something, etc., or even move water inside a living thing to cleanse it of toxins or kill it violently. He also has limited control over the movement of water vapor and the temperature of water, and very slight control over ice.
-Water Healing: Can use water to accelerate the rate at which he heals his own wounds. Drinking is good, swimming is better. Breathing extra-humid air also energizes him and keeps him healthy. A wound that would take 3 days to heal normally would be healed in just under a day by drinking a whole lot and in a few hours by submerging the wound the entire time. This takes a lot of food from his body and cannot work if he is underfed. He's never proven himself to be able to heal others, but he thinks there is a small chance he may be able to with plenty of practice.
-Water Breathing: Can breathe water as if it was air and speak with normal clarity underwater.
-Water Sense: Is always aware of where water is if he's within about a third of a mile of it. He senses its location more exactly as he gets closer, and if he's within about a hundred feet of it, he can tell its temperature, purity, and state of matter (if he can't just use his eyes for the last one).
Occupation: Assistant librarian in a library on the southwestern outskirts of Jessica's suburbs.
Personality/Bio: Temezren, a second-generation dragon, grew up in the wild, out in the woods of Texas, which was his only option since he hatched in 2013, when his kind was being hunted down. One of the first things he learned was how to live entirely off of his natural surroundings; food came, and still comes, easily to such a powerful predator as a dragon. He lived this way for much of his life, practicing his abilities and meeting other dragons as he avoided slayers, like many others did. About four years ago, he finally ventured to Jessica, where he learned much about human society. More importantly to him, though, he found that humans had discovered a wealth of knowledge and recorded it in books. As a very curious dragon, he couldn't help but leap at any informational text he found after discovering this and learning all it contained. Driven by a passion and talent for learning, Tem spent the next few years constantly studying from whatever books he could find, educating himself with remarkable success. About half a year ago, Tem decided to fill the newly-available assistant librarian's position at Junehall Library since he spent most of his time there anyway. He does his job well enough, but with the way he gets easily distracted by doing reading of his own, he, shall we say, doesn't get a lot of raises.
Tem doesn't live anywhere in particular. He rarely spends time in Jessica other than to study. For meals and nights, he goes to the forests to find food on his own and find somewhere in the forest to sleep, not necessarily one specific place.
His age combined with his intelligence allows Temezren to have a decent understanding of how the world works in general as well as how human society functions. He still has more to learn, of course, but he's certainly not a mere child. If asked, he might give you some very interesting philosophies.
Temezren is, overall, a quiet character. He likes to keep to himself when he can and generally avoids associating with others when he doesn't need to. When he does talk to people, though, he turns out to be quite amiable and pleasant. He has a deep sense of duty and responsibility that doesn't show so much in his daily life, but if he was ever brought to it, he would stick with any task he believed was just until its end. As a rule, he is more trusting of dragons than humans, but has learned never to judge solely by stereotypes.
Theme song: None for now; I'll see if I can get YouTube to like me enough to get one on here.

Username: Wolfpaw8
Character name: Kaldra (means fox, referring to her sneaky, cautious personality)
Gender: female
Age: 20
Species: western
Aspect: storm
Appearance:( http://browse.deviantart.com/?q=lightning dragon&order=9&offset=24#/d1lq06v)
Kaldra is pure black along most of her body, the black doesn’t reflect light well which aids in her ability to avoid discovery with ease. Her eyes are blood red with no pupils or surrounding whites, just straight red. This might give the impression that she’s evil or destructive, but she’s far from it. She is actually very caring to others, especially those younger than herself. Her claws are long, five on each paw, pearly white, with no bloodstains. Her wingspan is about seven feet from back to wingtip; the wings are black like her body scales.
On her underbelly, the scales are light blue, with darker blue scales running down the center of them. They continue from the start of her neck to the tip of her tail. She has many spikes; most are black like her scales, but the other type I will explain a little bit later. They are on her shoulders, on her head starting behind her eyes, one side of her arms and legs, and running down her back. They grow larger on her tail, much larger and sharper, making them better for fighting. Now, back to the unusual spikes; they’re transparent for the most part, light blue in color. On them are strange designs that seem to resemble either twisting bolts of lightning or a strange form of writing.
Abilities: Kaldra can breathe lightning, but not huge amounts as each blast drains her a little. She can coat her claws with electricity. She can also summon small storms, ranging from tornadoes to thunderstorms.
Occupation: None, she’s a wanderer.
Personality/Bio: Personality: Kaldra is very cautious, often preferring to hide when she sees someone to approaching them. This stems from her rough childhood, full of pain and betrayal. Despite her bloody past, she’s become sort of a mother hen to all younglings. If she meets and begins to care about a younger creature, be it human or dragon, she’ll become very protective of them. She’ll watch over them, a scaly guardian angel, keeping them safe and destroying all who would attempt to harm them. She hasn’t found someone to care for like that since her parents died because after that she retreated into a National Park.
Bio: Kaldra had a loving mother, Dask, mother in dragon tounge. They raised her in Yellowstone National Park, far away from most humans. They had a wonderful life; there was an abundance of prey, mostly white-tailed deer and elk. But when Kaldra turned sixteen things took a turn for the worst. Another dragon had scented them; he was a teenager, eager for his own plot of land and all the prey that came with it. His name was Malsvir, which loosely translates to evil, a fitting name for this heartless hunter. His scales were blood red and his eyes were black with a silver slitted pupil. His claws and muzzle were already stained with the remains of one of his brethren, he’d slashed him to pieces when his parents thrust them out on their own. His brother, Zaja , had been weak, Malsvir had viewed him as a waste of dragon flesh, unworthy of the powers dragons possessed. So he ripped out his heart the first chance he got and feasted on his Zaja’s remains. Malsvir then took to the sky, eager to find new territory in a National Park. He ended up in Yellowstone and when he caught the scents of a mother and her sixteen year old daughter, he knew that this was likely the easiest option.
He winged ever closer to Kaldra and Dask’s cave, situated near the peak of a waterfall overlooking Lamar Valley. Kaldra lay curled up in sleep, her mother standing at the cave entrance. It happened in a blur, one second her mother was turning, coming inside, the next she was pulled off the edge by a crimson dragon. Kaldra leapt up, aiming to fight back, but by the time she flew to the rocks near the waterfall’s base Malsvir was biting into Dask’s neck. It was the death blow.
Kaldra panicked and flew into the trees, cringing at the vicious laughter floating through the air after her. She left Yellowstone, wandering for the next four years of her life, before returning to her childhood home. She’d aimed on taking revenge on Malsvir for her mother’s murder, but the DoD had already taken care of that. A few weeks after word arrived at their council of Malsvir’s actions, they’d sent a team of five peacekeepers to euthanize the dangerous individual. Furious when she found out, but powerless to change the past, Kaldra settled into a semi-normal life in the cave she and her mother had once shared.

Character name: Valighaan (Goes by Val or Han or his entire name. Name comes from translator [Valignatir- burning, Niarhannin- river], so Burning River)
Gender: Male
Age: 14
Species: Common Western
Aspect: PMed to Eoch for approval
Appearance: Even at 14 his size runs slightly larger like his father. He is around eight feet from snout to tip of the tail (do you know how hard it is to get an exact measurement for a dragon?), with three and a half feet being his whip-like tail. He stands a mighty two and a half feet tall from claw to shoulder and is maybe a foot and a half wide. His wingspan is around six and a half feet wide, each wing being slightly longer than three feet. The wings follow the general shape common to the Common Western, but differ in the fact that they curve back more at the ends and have a joint in the middle that allows it to fold back towards his body (think of a F-14, except that pivot point being farther out) that allows it to be more hydrodynamic. While like this his wings are half the length and cannot flap effectively, although they can still move up and down and turn in the socket. This makes maneuvering at high speeds in air and low to high speeds in water easier. Also, while like this, he has a slightly awkward appearance as the wings look more like triangles protruding from his side. Along the top of his back his scales are a deep sapphire blue and lighten as they progress down the sides, reaching a brilliant ice blue. His underbelly is light, shiny blue tinged silver. The skin over wing bones are the same sapphire blue as his back, and the wing membrane is a beautiful mix of all the other colours. His head has the usual shapes and proportions. His maw is filled with pearl white teeth, the two main canines (where ours would be) are slightly longer than others and as such don't fit in his mouth. Those two hang outside the mouth, extending only slightly past his bottom lip. They do not go past his chin. His eyes are the same colour as the membranes of his wings, that is, a combination of the colours of his scales. Around the pupil radiating outwards in streaks is the same silver on his underbelly. On the top of his head behind and above his eyes he has the start of two horns. They are around five inches long and go up for maybe half an inch before starting to curve back. The overall shape of the horns along with the head retains the overall streamlined/aero/hydrodynamic shape of his body. Unlike other dragons he has no spikes or horns or bits of this or that along his neck going down his back. None. Just plain scales. His front legs are thinner than the back, but still defined with young, toned muscle. The 'fingers' coming off his paw are not as thick and slightly flatter than other Common Western. There is also thin webbing between the base knuckle and first knuckle out on his 'fingers'. His claws are jet black like his horns and razor sharp, although the claws are able to retract to an extent. His back legs are thicker, but still thin and lean. The webbing on the back feet are slightly larger and fill in more space between the 'toes'. The jet black claws cannot retract. His tail is long and whip like (like a regular Common's), but is slightly flatter (thinner from left to right) so it becomes more like a paddle (eel without those fins). The very tip resembles the tail of the xenomorphs of the Alien movies, it has a sharp blade around six inches long, three inches tall at the base (decreasing to a point) and very thin and, again, jet black.

There is something else. In-between some of the scales there are dark crimson marks that come together to form a series of imperfect lines. They start around the eye and base of the horn and weave their way along the rest of his body. They are very thin, as if they were many scars from sword wounds (but they're not). It looks pretty cool, but is sort of an ugly beautiful. There is something that doesn't seem right about them.
Abilities: Also PMed to Eoch for approval
Occupation: None, unless you count wandering
Personality: You would think that a dragon would be a super competitive, serious, mean person, and during a battle that's true, but on a day to day basis he's almost anything but. He's extremely nice and loyal, so much so that it's not uncommon for scumbags to take advantage of it, but it doesn't really bother him. You can't change who people are, and there are some bad people in the world. You just have make the best of it. For those that don't know him, they may say he's pretty weird, but in truth he's just a dragon with happy domineer and a bombastic personality. He's actually quite fun to be around, and can always make a situation better. It's hard to find a time when he isn't smiling, laughing, or cracking a joke and he has a way of really letting his mood effect others; you can find it quite hard to not feel happy and lighthearted around him. But he's not all smiles and charm. When his father left it started what would become a long depression, and even now he can slip back into it, staying silent and wanting to be alone at times. Having to take care of his mother and deal with her death aged and scarred him in ways that not many know of. He can go through swings, from being very mature to being very reckless. Treating everyone like family and being protective to hating everyone around him. Lately though, with going back to the city and being around humans and dragons, he's been finding it easier to control these swings.
Bio: To know Val you could say you have to know who his parents are. His father is Alder, one of the dragons converted from people for the Magician's army. His mother is Alder's fiancée from before he was converted. In the first few months after the freeing of Aurnia, she asked to be converted to be with him. A water and newly converted fire dragon.
Val is the product.
He started growing up with his parents in the city of Jessica, having as normal a child hood that a young dragon in a human city can have. He learned of his human family and background, and began to understand the more human ways of behavior--trying to override natural instincts that would be found in a second generation dragon. His human family even accepted him...with time. Living in the city and growing up around humans he has learned to co-exist with humans perfectly. He has, within only a few years from his hatching, become a prime example of what a dragon in the city should be. He was receiving education through not only his parents, but a few other dragons (to learn of the history of their kind), and even human teachers. He was respectful and well mannered, basically your model citizen in dragon form. But...something wasn't right with that. By the time he was nine he knew nothing of surviving off the land or how to be a dragon. His parents didn't even know his powers! So five years ago they went into the forests on the outskirts of Jessica. For the next five years Val spent time getting to know the dragon side of him. Learning to fly, practicing his powers. Stuff like that.
Two years ago his father left for no apparent reason. Val came back from hunting one day to his mom crying about how his father left them. Said some crazy nonsense that it was 'the only way to protect them'. A few weeks later she died. It would take months before Val figured out it was because she lost the will to live.
Both parents gone, he spent the last two years on his own.
He's recently started to go back to the city every once in a while, and it's helped him get more...control.
Theme song: None, until I find a suitable one
Other: No, not really. He isn't as up to date on current events, but that's about it.

Character name: Blake Campbell
Gender: Male
Age: 29
Weapons: None that are on him
Appearance: Blake stands well above most others at six foot three and has the body of someone who never saw a day where he didn't go to the gym. He's not huge like a body builder, but bigger than just being toned. He has a kind and handsome face though; a bright smile that exposes his white teeth and dimples and soft blue-gray eyes with a few freckles underneath. His hair is wavy and chocolate brown (the same color as his eyebrows), and falls about halfway down his forehead. He doesn't tan well, so his skin is pale compared to others even though he's outside most of the day. He walks with a slight limp though. It's easy to miss, and doesn't affect him performing any tasks besides running for long distances. He has a black tattoo on his left arm from shoulder to wrist. It's some mix between a tribal looking mark and waves, but cool looking nonetheless. He has a scar running from the outside of his right eye down his nose to the top of his lip. He has another going through his lip on the left side, and one more going down his neck and ending the the space between his left shoulder and side of his neck--it can be inferred that it goes up the back of his head. On the inside of his right arm the words Follow the Burning River are carved into his flesh. The scars are red and rough...very new looking.

Username: Neoismyname
Character name: Kaden Miirik (Cloud Song in Draconic. She pronounces it as KAY-den Mee-Eer-ICK)
Gender: Female
Age: 12
Species: Common Western
Aspect: Air
Appearance: Kaden is almost 3 feet tall at the shoulder when she stands on all fours. She has a large wingspan of about 7 feet and is 8 feet from nose to her tail tip, about half of it being her tail. She is flexible, like a cat, and has a similar build. She’s slightly below average in weight and fat, but not unhealthily so. She’s mostly a light azure color, with a hinting of cyan. At the end of each leg is a clawed foot that clearly belongs to a dragon. Her claws are white and on her front feet are dewclaws, enabling her to use her forepaws similarly to hands (though not as good as hands). Her forepaws have five toes, including her dewclaw, and her back feet have four toes. She has gently gold-colored, diamond-shaped (though it looks like they’re “V” shaped because they overlap slightly) belly plates, which start on the underside of her neck and end a short ways after the base of her tail. The leathery skin between her “wing fingers” is the same color as her belly plates, and is ever so slightly transparent. She has four “fingers” each on her wings, one from her elbow, one as the outer frame of her wing, and two sprouting from her “thumb” on each wing. The “thumb” has a sharp, white claw sticking out. At the end of her long, sinuous tail there is a sort-of sharp, gold 3-D diamond, squashed slightly so it is thin (I don’t want to describe it every time it’s mentioned, so let’s call it a “tail-blade”), with a curved spike pointing towards the tip of her tail on the top side and bottom side of her tail right in front of it. Kaden’s head is shaped like this: her forehead drops where the top of her eyes are, then, at the bottom of her eyes, her snout begins. Her snout is a little long is round at the end, where her nostrils are. Two long, sunset-gold horns are right in front of, and between, her ears. They curve kind of like a stretched out S, and have ridges. The insides of her flexible and slightly floppy bat-elf hybrid ears are a light yellow color. Her eyes are large and catlike, with a gold-green iris, leaning greatly towards green. She has gold eyebrow ridges above each of her eyes, which act as eyebrows, and are very flexible. She also has midnight-blue stripes scattered across her body.
Abilities:
1. ~Air Strength~ When she’s in the air and can feel wind, Kaden is all around better, getting a bit more agile, energetic, and speedier as she ascends.
2. ~Air Awareness~ She can tell what direction the wind is going, its strength, and its speed. Essentially, she “sees” air currents. Can be switched on and off.
3. ~Wind Control~ This power varies, from simply altering the wind’s flow around her to get somewhere faster, or creating little tornadoes and gusts to knock things--and people--over.
4. ~Slicing Winds~ She can focus wind into a concentrated form, effectively making sharp “waves” of air that can slice her target. They hurt--what does one expect from (basically) knives made of wind? You can feel a rush of air as they come, though.
5. ~Wind Creation~ A core mechanic of many of her abilities; sure, she could just as easily alter already existing wind, but what if there isn’t enough, or it is too strong for her to change? Create your own wind, of course! (No, not the kind that happens when you eat beans.)
Occupation: Mail Carrier.
Personality/Bio: Personality: Kaden is a friendly dragon, thoughtful and usually fairly calm--unless something makes her get hyper or agitated. At times, she is unbearably curious, sticking her nose into things that might get her in trouble. Most of the time, though, she prefers to take time to think logically. If she’s sad, she usually becomes withdrawn, but will openly cry and sob on other occasions. It just depends on the situation. If something makes her furious, she might lash out--maybe not physically, but that wasn’t my point. Due to her trust towards Lily, (more on her later) some dragons think Kaden is too trusting towards humans, but that’s not true--Lily is simply an exception to all of her grounded beliefs about humans.
Bio: Not too different from other dragons--well, except for one thing. Her parents were hiding in a cave, when (Oh no!) a dragonslayer appeared! She (the dragonslayer) was about to fire her gun and Kaden’s parents were crying. The slayer was glaring menacingly when she saw Kaden, who had broken into tears and began wailing. That was when they discovered that the slayer actually had a heart. The slayer, who’s name was Lily, patted Kaden on the head and walked off. She kept them safe and hidden from other dragonslayers. During that time, Kaden was taught about how the outside world was (her parents wouldn’t let Kaden go outside) by Lily and Draconic from her parents. Lily still visits them, even though, obviously, dragons are accepted. Kaden is a frequent customer at Dragonheart Café.
Theme song: Stars Align, by Kaskade: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Q1ncriQrGI I think it fits quite well, but I don't know why.
Other: The wonderful guide I am required to put here: http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/53771.page And please tell me if I do something that is wrong. Oh, and Lily might appear occasionally in my posts, but I'm treating her as an NPC, even though she is an important piece of Kaden’s history. Does that make sense? I hope it does...

Username: Jokie155.

Character name: Aelirsa (Rayne Hutcherson).

Gender: Female.

Age: Would be 19 as a human, 7 as a dragon.

Species: Common Western.

Aspect: Ice.

Appearance: True to her established species type as a typical Western, she has the usual features you would encounter on a dragon of this type, the wings, the spines, four legs, long neck, barbed tail. However, she retains a sort of ‘webbing’ in between her spines, which more often than not causes her trouble when the wind blows.

Her specific ‘dimensions’ are vague at best, estimating at roughly 8 feet long, and 2 feet wide. Reluctance to undergo any form of examination has prevented exact measurements beyond casual observation.

Being coloured according to her Aspect, she is overall a light blue, to those with a painter’s eye ‘Blue Hydrangea’. Her spines are coloured just slightly darker, while her claws are almost pure white. Because of the high complexity pattern that her scales make, and the fact that they aren’t very strong, she does her best to prevent them from being damaged.

Her eyes are in contrast a dark blue, with the pupil blending in to the edges of the iris. Because she works with ice a lot, her blood has trace elements of alcohol to prevent freezing, giving the corners of her eyes a slightly yellow appearance. In contrast, her teeth are almost pure white, kept clean of bacteria by her daily sub-zero blow, and bleached by reflected sunlight to remove any stains or blemishes.

In general, she has a beautiful appearance in an almost twisted way, but can become a daunting creature nonetheless if she feels it is necessary.

Abilities:

Freezing Fire: Typical of her Aspect, her breath is unusually cool, handy for keeping drinks at a nice temperature. When she so chooses, the temperature of her particular fire can be below zero, allowing her to momentarily freeze most small creatures for a few seconds until they thaw. So far, she has not attempted to reduce the temperature further, or increase her size range.

Freezing Touch: Similar to her fire in most ways, she is able to induce a shock of cold air on contact, which will freeze whatever object she is touching. However, the direct contact allows her to reach lower temperatures with less concentration, and the area of effect is likewise increased.

Water Tapping: One of her more unique abilities, with a small source of ice, she is able to produce a much larger supply of fresh water at will, using the ice as a catalyst to pull water directly from the air in a large radius. This will however leave the noted air feeling quite dry, unless it is a humid climate.

Icicle Storm: If she finds herself threatened, she can call up the ice that rests on her scales as jewelled decorations into a brief hail of icicles, unable to puncture clothing, but causing pain to most creatures from the hard impact. Near a large body of water or a source of loose ice, this ability can become quite powerful.

Occupation: Former waitress at a dragon cafe, now wanderer.

Personality/Bio: Rayne Hutcherson moved to the US from Australia with her parents when she was 8, economic instability forcing them to relocate to Dallas. There, she quickly learnt to fit in with the locals, diligently participating in events, completing favours for others. That changed when a good friend of hers, was shot dead, right in front of her. While it was merely deemed a random attack, the effects on Rayne were much more profound.

Since then, she had slowly been developing a vengeful persona, losing her temper most of the time, and even at one point resorting to physical violence over a small accident. Finally, when she couldn’t take it much longer, she went through psychiatric and drug therapy. What she hadn’t lost of her mind after the murder, she felt fading now. Her parents seeing this, discussed with her the possibility of getting her into the conversion program, for her own sake.

Rejected twice because of her instability, she finally agreed to give up on the drugs while she was in training, bringing back her irritable self. Fortunately, she managed to make it through without causing anything worse than a distasteful glare.

Once she had hatched in her new form, she was ecstatic to find out that one of her lifelong dreams had been fulfilled, to see snow. Quickly learning to respect her control over ice, she did her best to quietly slip back into society, working as a waitress at the cafe. But, she began to use her ability to take shortcuts, one of which almost caused a life threatening accident to a human co-worker. Being careless while the co-worker was bringing in plates, she accidently released a burst of ice at her, freezing most of her body including her heart. Fortunately it didn't take long to thaw her body enough to risk carrying her out to the ambulance. Despite the owner accepting it as an accident, Aelirsa resigned her job and faded from society, including the scope of her worrying parents.

Short writing sample:

Peering over the top of the roof, the flick of a claw being exposed sounded like a snap in her ears. But then, she could hear much better than just about every human she had met. She pulled her head back again as a small gap in the clouds appeared. With her scales, she was a lighthouse when exposed to rays of light. Waiting until the clouds recovered her stealth, she finally looked over the top of the house again.

Curses, it was gone. That mangy cat which relentlessly followed her around and yowled as if to alert everyone to her presence. So many times she had been forced to flee, when all she was trying to do was track down a piece of jewellery that had been recently stolen from her. Was it that wrong to care about a necklace, enough for the neighbourhood cat to sound it’s alarm?

She didn’t want to take the chance of the cat following her again, it had to be taught a lesson about tailing Ice dragons. She shook her head. Letting the cat distract her from the original goal was a mistake. But she couldn’t risk it re-appearing at the worst time possible. Sighing, she lay down on the roof for a moment, resting her tired eyes. At least now she could enjoy the moonlight without worry, no-one would see her there.

Username: Wolfpaw8
Character name: Aressa Sulthura (her first name roughly translates to “ice pet”, while her last name translates to “ended punishment”, put together it means “ice dragon whose punishment was ended”)
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Species: Luong
Aspect: Ice
Appearance: Aressa is about 7 feet long and 3 feet tall, with that signature snaky body structure that luongs possess. She has a lithe kind of strength about her, although her ribs still show a little bit as it’s kind of hard for her to find enough food to maintain a healthy weight most of the time. Her legs are more muscled than the rest of her due to her constant pacing while captive. Her paws each have five toes with her front paws being more “hand-like.” Her nails were once white but are now more gray and worn on the bottom due to the pacing and scratching at the walls.
Her scales are blue-grey in color and often seem to have ripples of lighter blue moving across them when light hits them. The scales on her underside are slightly larger and lighter in color than the rest of her scales. Running along her back is a mane of light blue hair with streaks of white mixed in and on her tail it spreads out into a sort of furry fan. By her face it kind of flops forwards, sometimes covering one eye. Speaking of eyes, her eyes have large irises that are deep blue in color, much like the deep ocean when sun strikes the top of it. Her face is thin and feminine in shape with two sinuous “whiskers” sprouting from just next to her nose and floating alongside her body when she walks.
Around her neck and along her back are the testaments to her time in captivity. Circling her neck is pinkish scar tissue from where her collar cut her, she healed, and the scabs were cut open again repeatedly. On her back, mainly near her shoulders, are thin whitish scars from the whip. There’s also a larger white mark on her left cheek from when she leapt at her master and he struck her across the face with the butt of the whip.
Abilities:
1. Ice Breath: Aressa’s breath is at a lower temperature than most other creatures at all times, therefore she always has icy puffs of air coming from her mouth. It’s similar in appearance to how, when the weather is really cold, smoke forms in the air when you exhale.
2. Cooling Touch: If Aressa makes contact with another object, such as with her claws, she can coat that object in ice. It can either be a rather thin layer that will cool the object or creature and slow its movement or a thick layer that will completely stop movement.
3. Ice Wave: She can create a wave of ice that will sweep across the ground, making it nearly impossible for other creatures to move. Combined with her cooling touch, she can essentially freeze someone to the ground, leaving them vulnerable.
4. Ice Fire: Aressa can breathe a sort of fire of icicles. Basically what happens is as the chemicals that create fire pass through her jaws her cool breathe crystalizes around them, creating icicles that, if they hit their target, either act as spears or split apart on contact and burn as fire would.
Occupation: Well, being a thief could be thought of as her ‘occupation’ although it’s only when she needs money or supplies.
Personality: Aressa is wary of humans in general, particularly males. She sees them as untrustworthy and violent, often ‘seeing’ her captor in them. She becomes very skittish around them and because of her aversion to males she often sticks to back alleyways or the surrounding forest. She doesn’t truly know how to interact with other creatures, dragon or human in nature, due to her many years sheltered away from the world. If she has to talk to someone she won’t ever make eye contact because her master often forced her to look him in the eyes before he whipped her to increase the torment it put her through. She occasionally has flashbacks of the years she was imprisoned and often collapses in tears when they strike her.
Bio: Aressa was the child of two ice luongs, but was orphaned at a very young age. She had only hatched a few days ago when her parents left to go hunting, leaving her at their small cave, and never came back. She wandered around, confused and scared. Eventually she came to a small campfire out in the woods. Sitting around it was an off-duty slayer, resting after his last mission. He looked at the young ice dragon and decided she could be useful.
The next ten years of Aressa’s life were spent chained up in the basement of the man’s rather large house. She probably could have torn off the collar or broken the chain once she’d reached the age of eight, but because she’d been chained up since she was a hatchling in her mind the chain was unbreakable. She did odd jobs for her captor, simple things like making ice for his drinks or more difficult things like guarding the rather large amount of money he’d collected through his many years as a slayer. He once used her to intimidate a man who owed him some money, but thankfully he never had her injure or kill anyone. She was essentially a dragon guard-dog. No one ever suspected what the secret he kept holed up in his house; he was such a respectable man in their eyes.
But eventually rumors of a large lizard-like creature in his house reached the ears of the DoD and they dispatched a small team to check it out. Aressa was freed, her captor was jailed, and she spent the next four years in rehabilitation. She’d been extremely malnourished and had many scars along her body from either the whip the man had used when she displeased him or the metal color that had long encircled her neck. While in rehabilitation she was given her new name as he master had often simply called her Beast. She was finally cleared and allowed to go on her way, but because she had little job/working experience she was forced to turn to thievery to support herself.
Theme song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPOeLX4B55s
Short writing sample: Aressa sat perched atop a fire escape, watching people and dragons alike stroll past on the pavement in front of her alleyway. They were so oblivious, they had no idea of those trapped and suffering in their precious city. She frowned, trembling slightly. She could still hear Master’s voice berating her when she’d frozen his drink solid in a block of ice rather than making a few ice cubes.
“You’re useless!” he shouted, eyes blazing, “I should have left you to die that day, you’re more trouble than you’re worth. Here I am feeding you, giving you shelter, caring for you and how do you thank me? By failing at the simplest of tasks!”
His hand reached across the table for his whip, he always kept it close at hand, especially on those rare days when he allowed her to come out of the basement and onto the main floor. She didn’t like it when he was angry. She cowered back against a barstool, not daring to meet his eyes. Then he began to laugh, “Ha, look at you, the ‘awe-inspiring dragon.’ You’re a weakling and a coward, there’s no way you’d ever survive in the real world!”
He didn’t truly need the whip, he could hurt her merely with his words.

Aressa gripped the rusted metal bar at her feet, ice spreading out from her touch. Eyes narrowed, she selected her target, a middle-aged woman holding a Coach purse as she clicked by in her high heels. She slithered down to the ground and touched the pavement with one claw. Ice appeared below the woman’s heel and she fell to the ground, purse flying out of her hands and just inside Aressa’ hideaway. Aressa crept forward, grasped the purse, and took out the lady’s wallet. She lifted out a $100 dollar bill, smiled, and set it on the trash pile to her left.
The clicking started up again; the woman was searching franticly for her purse. Aressa took a deep breath and stepped out. “H-here you go, ma’am, dropped your purse.”
“Thank you, dear,” said the unwitting woman as Aressa handed back the black bag, now $100 dollars lighter. She went on her way and Aressa went back to collect her earnings for the day.

Username: Lyric
Character name: Agate Armstrong
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Species: Quetzalcoatl Hybrid (maternal)
Aspect: Earth
Appearance: Agate has the stereotypical appearance of a, simply put, nerd. Thick, perfectly circular glasses frame her face in the most unflattering way, making her weary yet intelligent chestnut-brown eyes appear to be be the size of dinner plates. In those eyes, one can detect the presence of both Agate’s human and dragon heritage. Small, but visible luster red horns are curvature from her head. Agate’s body structure looks like an anthropomorphic dragon’s build. She is what you would call a “late-bloomer”, both in human and dragon terms. She is 5’2” at about 90 pounds (yes, she’s very small). Her body is an agate red hue, which is sort of a red-brown. Her underbelly is a simple shade of tan. Horizontal lines run across her tan area from her neck to her tail. Agate’s mother is a quetzalcoatl, giving her many unique characteristics. Her head basically mimics the shape of her dragon mother, with a mop of feathers that once harbored an array of colors, but a lack of grooming and a lifetime in the mines has turned her feathers into a sooty and mottled mess. This goes the same for the wings on Agate’s back. Her “hair” is long and tangled. She normally has her feathers tied back in a low, careless ponytail, just to keep it out of her way. Her whole body is also long and slender like a quetzalcoatl. She lacks legs, having the tail of a quetzalcoatl instead (with tuffs of feathers at the end of the tail). The end of the tail remains horizontal to and on the ground, making it stable enough to keep upright. She basically looks like a very unkempt mermaid. Agate maneuvers by slithering around on her tail (or flying, of course), while keeping her body upright like a human. She possesses two arms, sporting claws to defend herself. Her wardrobe mainly consists of those “nerdy” glasses (with the tape included) and a simple deep, yet not rich, brown polo, with a lighter brown trim for the collar and the section at the bottom of the polo. On the left side of her polo, under her collar, lies a hastily sewn pen-pocket. Imprinted on this pocket is the logo for Armstrong’s Mining Co., which was a sturdy-looking dwarf with pickaxe, mining for his fortune. If Agate just exchanged her glasses for a more stylish pair and cleaned her self up, she would actually be quite beautiful.
Abilities: Agate has one breath weapon and one summoning ability. The former allows her to blast sand out of her mouth (which is actually quite useful. You’ll see why). The latter is the ability to move rocks telepathically (a good-sized boulder could render someone unconscious). She also knows to make many potions and items from the earth, like ones with healing and purifying properties.
Occupation: Agate and the rest of her family, until recently, worked at Armstrong’s Mining Co., a small mining location and museum in North Carolina. It had been in Agate’s father’s family for generations. Each member of the family had a part in the business. Agate worked at identifying the mined rocks and recording their measurements. At least, that’s what she did until they went out of business from bankruptcy. With their whole family out of work, Agate’s parents sent their three oldest children in search of work in order to support their large family. Being one of the oldest, Agate is currently searching for a job, but, so far, hasn’t succeeded in finding one.
Personality/Bio: Agate is the nervous type, with zero-confidence. She’s just highly sensitive to others‘ words. She can’t bear the weight of even the slightest remark that even seems just a tad bit rude. If someone says something that upsets her, she’ll either stand there quietly or nervously laugh. On rarer occasions (but not obsolete) she responds to these unsettling comments calmly and cooly. However she responds, she always cries afterwards. She saves the tears once she reaches solitude.
At school, she sits alone. At home, she is usually ignored. The entire family lives in a cramped cave under their family business, Armstrong’s Mining Co.. Agate lives in a family of seventeen (“individual attention” is not a common phrase in the Armstrong household). Naturally, she is lonely, even craving attention. Others view her quite differently from how she feels, though. They believe that since she is very quiet and doesn’t talk to anyone that she wants to be left alone. In reality, she is unsure of how to approach people, and desperately wishes others would come to her. Her small voice is often overrun by other people the rare times she gets to engage in conversation, never allowing her to get a word in edgewise. Naturally, when she does get the chance to speak, she tends to ramble, often trailing off when she realizes people have lost interest. Agate wishes to branch out and gain more confidence, but she can’t even adjust her appearance so that people will respect her more (like her hair-feathers and wings). She’s one of those people/dragons that can set her mind to something, but can’t follow the motions to get that something accomplished.
Writing is Agate’s vent. It’s where she can truly express herself, where her real voice is. She normally goes for the darker poems dripping with drama, but lately she has been writing an autobiography of her life. To get it onto paper really helps when it comes to Agate.
((I have a feeling that her personality will flourish throughout the story.))
Theme song: “Charlie Brown” (Coldplay’s and Joe Barnard’s versions): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbFTasfQFt4&feature=related and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goCCOub38nE&feature...list=FL9gRnd3QDVyH3mGacd_YkPg. I think the feeling of these songs just match, because they emit an almost lonely feel to me. Agate is also disliked by all like Charlie Brown was. “Science Genius Girl” by Freezepop also kind of matches her intelligent side: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3EHBPsTMW8&feature...L9gRnd3QDVyH3mGacd_YkPg&lf=BFp

Very, very, very tempted to join this but school and then vacation and asdfghjkl. ;-;

I have a question though; is it more of a remake of the third one, or is it a continuation of the existing storyline? I just want to know how easy it will be to "get into it" or not.

Also, with new dragons being converts, do they remember everything about their human lives or not? I'm a bit confused on how that works.

Aaaaaaaand tentative reserve on a Quetzal which I may or may not fill out due to be screwy schedule and studying for finals??? And do Quetzals have a specific aspect attached to them or can I just choose out of the available ones???

also some of your formatting is kind of messed up

We're still going on the Sporum; BB's being an asshole, and I'm about to burn my bridges there. So, it's still business as usual from before.

You could always hop in a little later; we've already introduced a few characters (about half the current group) midstream, so that's not a problem.

I was planning on posting a summary of events so far, just to minimize having to go back and forth between sites.

Converts remember everything. They just may have some weird identity issues early on. There's counseling and whatnot in order to make things as easy as possible, but that's not to say that the success rate is 100%.

(not-really-spoiler alert: Aurnia died in post 1.)

You can reserve all you want. We've got a Quetzal hybrid, but no pureblood Quetzals yet. Any aspect can go with any species; the affinities are just a matter of what pairing generally works best with what.

Alright, a summary would be great!

Okay, okay. So if I were to make a new dragon sheet I would be a recent convert?

Ooh. Ice pureblood Quetzal then~

Recent convert or second-generation dragon, either way. We've got a mix of both.

Or even a human, if you felt like it.

BIG BADASS SUMMARY OF BADASSERY

Aurnia dies. Badly. Might as well just read the post. The current batch of hatchlings suffers heavy casualties. Eggs are untouched and staff of Aurnia's cave is surprisingly not dead. Witnesses were in bad shape and will probably be out of commission for a while.

Various dragons visit the temporary police base setup just outside the crime scene. Large swaths of the forest are quarantined due to radiation exposure. Police Captain Stackpole gives the lowdown.

Unrest quickly stirs in Jessica, and tensions are high. Human-dragon paranoia is the highest it's been since the time of the Slayers. Accusations go back and forth as to whether humans or dragons were responsible.

The next morning, Captain Stackpole's car is found on the road to Aurnia's cave, keys still in the ignition, door open. The Captain is nowhere to be found. At this announcement, a few stores are closing their doors to one race or the other, or closing period. The Dragonheart Cafe refuses entrance to human workers and staff.

Several dragons take it upon themselves to investigate Kennt's message. Kaldra goes to the DoD and looks up his address. He lives in an empty section of strip mall, in complete darkness. Somehow, he is still able to see. Personal items, including a picture, hint at a romantic relationship with Aurnia. Kennt reveals that Aurnia's Draconis Veneficium, the organ that interfaces a dragon with its magical powers and environment, is missing. Given that her powers included radiation, and that a dragon queen's DV is one of the most powerful magical artifacts to exist ever, this is really freaking bad. He also suggest looking into the rash of local disappearances.

Kaldra, Ev, Val, and Tem meet up outside the DoD amid a crowd of protesting dragons. They let it slip that Aurnia had some crime scene surgery; crowd isn't that good at dragon anatomy and is thus confused/panicked. After retreating to the alleyway, they pick up an eavesdropper. Turns out to be a she, and her name is Heaven's Leaf Fallen (a rather flowery [ba-dum-tssss] previous-era draconic name). She's Scott Hazlitt's daughter in from out of state. They also pick up an amnesiac human with a bizarre connection to Val.

Returning to the uncontaminated portions of the forest so Ev doesn't gas people, they go look for food and get separated/lost. Leaf meets Tem's parents, and awkwardness ensues. Leaf seems rather ignorant of her father's history.

Party member acquired: Kaden! Kaden seems to like Ev, and Leaf assumes the worst while eavesdropping. The makings of a love triangle ensue, as Ev remains mostly oblivious to Leaf's involvement, Kaden and Ev progress normally, and Leaf subtly tries to garner favor while not admitting to herself what she's doing. Meanwhile, Kaldra and Tem progress slowly towards hooking up.

Kaldra is injured in a cougar encounter. Tem temporarily burns out his healing abilities to heal her instead of himself, and then passes out.

Kaden discovers a campfire with a number of demi-dragon monsters around it. One of them stuns her, then they fake a crash and leave her for dead. She wakes up a bit later and is found by the group. Leaf demonstrates a talent for herbalism and a working knowledge of arcana, but she is initially suspicious that Kaden didn't have an accident. Turns out the stun spell was a botched forbidden kill spell. Who would have had access to that sort of classified information?

The group returns to the city with a near-catatonic Tem carried on Kaldra's back and stops at a food truck. On the way over, Ev learns to fly properly. There, they see a news broadcast that Stackpole has indeed been found. He's mysteriously okay.

The group spends the night in the library basement where Tem works/lives and heads out to start the new day. Tem/Kaldra are the new awkward couple, and Leaf does freaky plant fusion shit.

They write down a list of disappeared people at the police station, and Captain Stackpole sees Kaden. He seems to recognize her, despite not actually having met her before. The ensuing encounter is creepertastic. (It goes on for the next page or so.) Agate shows up and somehow saves the encounter by barfing on the captain's shoes. Most of the party suspects sabotage.

Aressa and Aelirsa join the party on the way to visit one of the kidnapping victim's workplaces: Fry's.

And the story continues....

Other players, feel free to add in what I missed, your personal theories, etc.

Oh! Wow! Lots of stuff happened!

I must say, at first I was quite surprised to find you moving this so suddenly, Eo (if I can still call you that), but looking here, I can see that you had your reasons. My entire experience with the Sporum for the last few months has been literally nothing but CoA, so I don't know anything about BB (SporeMasterBlackbird, right?) being jerky, but I can understand wanting to complete a shift like you say. My biggest concern is that the Sporum used to be the only site I was interested in that didn't have advertisements blaring at me all the time, whereas now even CoA is on a site with an ad banner. At least they're not too invasive here.

[OCD MODE ENGAGED]

I noticed that, in the summary, you said the library basement was where Ev lived and worked, while it should say Tem.

Also, I think Ev was more interested in Kaden at first than she was in him, but you make it sound more like the other way around in the summary. He's only oblivious to Leaf's attention.

Lastly, because even slight inconsistencies make my OCD-ness itch, I would like to ask that you use Ev's more recent sheet on the character list here. I think it's on the IC list on the Sporum.

Well, I am now a member on this forum. Probably will check back on the Sporum occasionally, but I agree with what's been said on other threads about the quality of rps slowly sinking. BB does seem to be a lot more... snappy lately also. CoA was my only true reason for continuing to post there, but it seems like most of the Sporum rp-ers are here, so it all works out.

I'll probably post in the IC tonight, get the rp moving.

Hey Jalines, I notice from your post that Ev apparently isn't able to see the store from where he is, but I thought we actually got within sight of it before meeting Aressa and Aelirsa....I'm not sure who's right anymore, though. Something to think about (and for Eo to remind us about or decide on, I guess).

Oh, right... I was going to add in a little OOC note about that at the end of my post, Michangs, but I forgot. I'm not sure whether it's that close or not, either. I'm thinking of something a little different that I could change it to, if need be.

Wow, congratulations, Eo! I had no idea! That's as good a reason as any to be less active; don't worry about it at all. Even getting into a college is looking like an intimidating, even brutal challenge to me, so that's a fantastic accomplishment!

Anyway - 404 Error, I notice that you were apparently StinkyPachem on the Sporum. If I recall correctly, you might have already come up with a character right when this RP was starting, or at least a few ideas. (Don't ask how I remember that far back, I don't know either.) So you could look back at that if you wanted.

And Jalines, Wolfpaw and Miirik have already gone ahead with what you said, so I figure it's okay to leave it.
