So, you've probably heard about my fiasco with the barber a while back.* I have found a way to rectify the situation and have some good come of it at the same time. This year, I'll be participating in Movember.

What is Movember, you ask? Good question.

Come November 1st, I'll be shaving my moustache/sideburns entirely, then growing my stache back in an even more epic form in an effort to raise awareness about prostate cancer and contribute money for its research.

From the website:

"During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo’s, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

The funds raised in the US support prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men. The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and our men’s health partners, the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG, the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Together, the three channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programs in line with our strategic goals in the areas of awareness and education, survivorship and research."

Basically, prostate cancer is the nearest male equivalent to breast cancer, and money from Movember is a major source of funding for research.

If you'd like to help fund research, you can donate at my page here: http://mobro.co/OConnor4
If you'd like to participate yourself, you can join here: http://us.movember.com/?home

Also, the person who raises the most money in my team wins an awesome shave set. I'm currently sitting in a three-way tie for 7th place, but I've got a long way to go and a month to do it in. It would mean a lot to me if anyone would like to donate even just five bucks, or give me a pageview or two.

*I admit that I was a bit hard on my barber. I have a rocky relationship with barbers anyway, and I was stressed out and suffering from a hormone imbalance (which still continues). I'm still not pleased, but I admit that my outburst was overdoing it. No lasting hard feelings with her, because it's all turning out well in the end, but I'm still not letting her do my hair again.

Wish I was old enough for a 'stache like that.

You're getting there. I assume you've started shaving by now, if not very often?

Yeah. Once every few weeks or so.
